On Sunday 29 August we sang at a gala at Poolsbrook Country Park, Staveley, near Chesterfield. The Mayor of Chesterfield had asked us to be ready to sing at 11:00am, so we set off in good time – and in heavy rain. By the time we arrived the rain had almost stopped, and within a short time we were getting sunburned again (49 days after the last time – how time flies!). We sang selections from our repertoire in three sessions, finishing at about 3:30pm. The modest crowd gave us a warm welcome; no doubt many others had been deterred by the distinctly unpromising morning weather.
